Three Kingdoms has several DLC campaigns, I wanna say like four or five. Medieval 2 Kingdoms and Shogun 2 Fall of the Samurai are both standalone expansions, and I believe Shogun 2 has a smaller DLC campaign called Rise of the Samurai (I didn't play it). Most of the games have expansions that are more structured, usually in a smaller chunk of the map or of time, with some additional mechanics and more scheduled events, you might prefer those for the focus. Unless you're a huge Warhammer fan I'd say not to try them until you've played some of the others and gotten familiar with them. The Warhammer games are also very good, honestly might be better than even the best historical ones, but I think they need some context. I'd say start with Shogun 2, then if you absolutely love it Medieval 2, if you're just mid on it and think maybe you could like if it had another chance go for Three Kingdoms. I also think Three Kingdoms is very good, but with the heroes and some of the other systems, it might be hard to go back to older games. I do think they're the two best games, it's a hard choice, probably I'd pick Shogun 2, it's just better aged / not as old as Medieval. My two favorites are Shogun 2 and Medieval 2, not counting expansions. Not very interested in starting with sandbox modes (are campaigns even a thing in TW games?) ģ - Not particularly interested in Warhammer, so I'd like to avoid that one for now. Here's my criteria:ġ - The entry with the most structured and immersive campaign.
So, here I am asking for a recommendation.
#TOTAL WAR SHOGUN 2 PC#
Recently I've been meaning to try my luck with the series, but I've got two problems:ġ - There are so many of them! I've no idea where to start.Ģ - My PC is low to mid end at best (i5 4460, gtx 970, 8gb), and I've read that the games are usually poorly optimised. Also, I'm more of a console gamer nowadays, and I don't think any of the games are available on any the consoles (correct me if I'm wrong). intimidating, that I never really gave a fair shot to any of the games. The hundreds of soldiers clashing, the realistic battles, it all looked so appealing yet at the same time so. The Total War games always looked like an extremely cool take on RTS games to me.
